Hydraulic fluid is the medium by which power is transferred in hydraulic machinery. It provides the life blood for operation and the power to get the job done. It is essential, therefore, that hydraulic systems operate efficiently.
Contamination in hydraulic systems represents a major threat to efficiency and productivity. Indeed, more than 80% of all hydraulic failures can be attributed to contaminated fluids. This includes failures in hoses and fittings as well as pumps and valves.
There are three types of contamination, solid, liquid and gaseous contamination. Filters are used for effective particle separation to ensure the operating function of the components and therefore the entire system. They play an essential role in ensuring that the systems operate reliably and economically with high availability and low maintenance intervals.
